On Sunday, Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), announced the expulsion of his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for a duration of six years. This decision was attributed to Tej Pratap's failure to uphold moral values in his personal conduct.
Lalu Prasad emphasized that his son's behavior did not align with the family's principles. He stated, "From this point forward, he will have no involvement in the party or the family," in a message shared on social media.
This announcement followed a controversy that arose on Saturday regarding a now-deleted Facebook post by Tej Pratap. The post included a picture of him with a woman named Anushka Yadav, claiming they had been in a relationship for 12 years.
In light of this post, many social media users questioned why Tej Pratap had married Aishwarya, the daughter of former Bihar minister Chandrika Rai, in May 2018 if he was already involved with another woman. The marriage ended in separation just months later, and divorce proceedings are currently ongoing in Patna.
Tej Pratap asserted on Saturday that his social media accounts had been compromised, alleging that his images were manipulated to harass and tarnish his family's reputation. He urged his supporters to disregard any rumors.
Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap's younger brother and a leader in the RJD, commented on the situation, stating, "I do not condone such actions. We cannot accept this behavior. Tej Pratap is an adult and has the freedom to make his own choices. The party chief has already expressed his views through his tweet."
This incident occurs just months before the Bihar Assembly elections, which are expected to take place by November. Tejashwi Yadav is anticipated to spearhead the RJD's campaign in the lead-up to the elections.
